We’re trying something different this year, and holding some workshops at the Metrix CreateSpace on Capitol Hill.

Metrix is a hackerspace at the north end of Broadway on Capitol Hill, and is a really cool place that everyone should know about.

Their address is:

623A Broadway East
Seattle, 98102

We have the following workshops scheduled:

To sign up for a workshop, give Metrix a call at 206-357-9406. They don’t have an electronic signup yet, but they’re open from 12 noon to 12 midnight every day, so there’s a good chance they’re ready to take your registration right now! The class is $50 plus a $10 materials fee.

You’ll walk out with a solid basic understanding of how you can work with EL wire, and you’ll be ready to start incorporating it into your costumes and art projects. You’ll also work out with a simple working piece of wire connected to a driver that you can start to play with right away.

Here’s the blurb on the Metrix website:

Basics of Working with EL Wire Working with EL wire is easy! In this workshop you will learn the basics of working with electroluminescent wire. At the end of the workshop, you will walk out with a piece of EL wire firmly attached to a driver. You will also walk out with the knowledge and confidence you need to start your first real EL wire project.
